Description
HEAR What’s HERE is a fun children’s book that introduces kids to homonyms and specifically the subcategory known as homophones — words that sound the same, are spelled differently and have different meanings. There are more than 6,000 homonyms in the English language and this book is a clever way to begin a discussion about these words with kids in classroom and homeschool settings as well as with people who have English as a second language. Kids can come up with other examples on their (not “there” or “they’re”) own after they know (not “no”) what they are looking for (not “four”). Example from the book: “Can you find a PAIR of PEARS? Do you SEE the SEA? Would you like to STARE at STAIRS? Or maybe BE a BEE?”
HEAR What’s HERE is a full-color, 48-page, hardbound book with engaging illustrations by award-winning cartoonist Val Chadwick Bagley. Text (including definitions) written by okay-selling poet Mike Agrelius.
